Guide
Installation day, step by step.
Last updated: 3 July 2026 · Written by the ECONEXIS team, MCS-accredited installers.
By the time we arrive to install, all the thinking is done — your design is agreed, the DNO application is in hand and the kit is ordered. Here's what the install itself actually looks like, so there are no surprises.
Before the day
- Scaffolding goes up a day or two before — safe roof access is non-negotiable.
- Materials arrive — panels, inverter, battery and mounting, checked against your design.
- We confirm timings with you, including the brief power-off window.
On the day
Most domestic installs are completed in one to two days. The roof team fits the mounting rails and panels while the electrician positions the inverter and battery (garage, loft or utility spot agreed in your design) and runs the cabling. You'll have a short power-off period — typically under an hour — while we connect to your consumer unit. Expect some drilling noise, a tidy team, and dust sheets where they belong.
Testing and commissioning
Before we leave, the system is tested and commissioned: electrical safety tests (your EIC certificate), inverter configuration including any DNO export limit, battery setup, and the monitoring app on your phone showing live generation.
After the install — the paperwork you should expect
- MCS certificate — registered within days; you'll need it for the Smart Export Guarantee.
- Electrical certification and Building Regs notification.
- Warranties — 25 years on panels, 10 on the battery — plus our insurance-backed workmanship guarantee.
- A proper handover — how everything works, what the app shows, who to call.
Scaffolding comes down within a few days, and a company owner is on every ECONEXIS install — so the person accountable for the quality is literally on your roof.
How long from "yes" to switched on?
Typically a few weeks: free design (usually 24 hours), survey, DNO application, then installation. Start with your free custom design — it's the only step that takes no time at all.
