Five options, five fitted prices
All of them are around 7 kW, which adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range an hour — enough to fill almost any car overnight. Faster units need a three-phase supply that very few UK homes have.

The one real choice
Cable attached, or a socket on the wall?
Neither charges any faster. It is about how you want to live with it, and it moves the price by about thirty pounds.
Cable permanently attached
Nothing to carry from the boot, nothing to forget. Best if you park in the same spot every night and want to plug in without thinking.
A socket, you bring the cable
Tidier on the wall when it is not in use, and a little cheaper. Best if the charger is on the front of the house where you can see it.
One of ours
A Sigenergy charger, fitted in one visit
A Sigenergy EV charger on an outside wall, with its own holder for the charging cable and the supply clipped and run properly rather than draped down the brick. One visit, one set of certificates.
Doing it together saves you a second visit. If you are thinking about solar or storage as well as the charger, ask for both on one quote rather than booking two jobs months apart — see what a battery costs.

No surprises
What would make it cost more
The prices above cover a standard install, which is what most homes need: a charger on a wall within about ten metres of the fuse board. Three things genuinely change the figure, and we tell you before anything is booked, never after.
A long cable run
Past about ten metres the cable has to be upsized to hold the voltage, which costs more per metre. We measure it before quoting.
Groundwork
If the car parks across a driveway from the house, the cable has to be ducted and buried rather than clipped along the wall.
A full fuse board
If there is no room for a dedicated breaker, a small sub-board goes in beside it. Where the existing board is not safe to add to, we say so plainly.
EV charger cost questions
Is that really the final price?
For a standard install, yes — and that is what the large majority of homes need. If yours turns out to be unusual, we tell you before any work is booked, never on the day.
Do I need solar panels for a charger?
No. It works on its own using a cheap overnight tariff, which is where most of the saving comes from anyway. Add solar or a battery later and the charger is already ready for both.
How long does it take to fit?
One visit, usually two to four hours. We test it and certify it ourselves, so there is nothing for you to file afterwards.
Why is every charger about 7 kW?
That is the practical ceiling for a house on a normal single-phase supply. Faster units need three-phase, which very few UK homes have. A 7 kW charger adds roughly 25–30 miles of range an hour, which fills almost any car overnight.
Can it charge the car from my solar?
Yes, if you have panels — surplus generation goes to the car instead of back to the grid for pennies. Pair it with a battery and it can use cheap overnight power during the day too.
What if it stops working?
The charger carries its manufacturer warranty and our workmanship guarantee is insurance-backed. You call us, and the team that fitted it comes back — not a call centre.
