What's included in the price?

Every price above is the complete fitted price. Here's what it covers.

If you keep your inverter

Battery only. You already have a Fox ESS, Sigenergy or Tesla hybrid system, and we add the battery to it.

  • The battery, cabling and connection to your inverter
  • Commissioning: we test it and switch it on
  • Your MCS certificate
  • The app set up, and a walk-through on the day

With a new inverter

A hybrid inverter runs your battery, and your panels if you have them. It works with the panels you already have (we replace the old inverter), or with no panels at all, charging overnight on a cheap tariff.

  • The battery, hybrid inverter, cabling and connection
  • The DNO notification: we tell your network operator about the new inverter, at no fee
  • Commissioning and your MCS certificate
  • The app set up, and a walk-through on the day

What changes the price?

Each price is a range. Where your home lands in it comes down to a few things we check at your free survey.

Where the battery goes

The spot we fit it in changes how much work the job takes.

The cable run

That's how far the cable travels to reach your system. A longer run means more work.

Your consumer unit

That's your fuse box. Its state can change what the job needs.

The inverter size

Only if you're having a new inverter. Fox ESS runs from 3 to 10 kW, Sigenergy from 3.6 to 12 kW. Most homes need the smallest.

Priced at survey, never on the day. A backup gateway (it keeps power on in a power cut), a new consumer unit or an unusually long cable run. If your home needs one, you'll see it in your written quote.

The price we quote is the price you pay. Your exact figure is fixed in writing after the survey, before anything is ordered.

EP6 or EP12? Three questions decide it.

Most homes we visit end up on the EP12. It stores twice as much, for £800 more as battery only (£1,000 more with a new inverter). But not every home needs it.

Still deciding whether a battery is for you? The battery storage page covers what one does, which brands we fit and how the installation works.

Buy electricity when it's cheap. Use it when it isn't.

A battery moves your electricity in time. You fill it when power is cheap or free, then run the house on it when the grid price is high. With panels, it fills from your own daytime surplus. Without panels, it fills in a cheap overnight tariff window. Either way, the app does it for you.

  1. 1

    Charge

Overnight on an off-peak tariff, or from your panels through the day. You set it once in the app.

  2. 2

    Run the house

Cooking, lights, TV, the dishwasher at 9pm — all from the battery instead of the grid at peak price.

  3. 3

    Repeat, daily

LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells are rated for thousands of cycles. That's one a day for the whole warranty and well beyond.

No subcontractors. A company owner on every install.

The person who designs your system is on site when it goes in. We fit only the four batteries above, because we know them well. If one isn't right for your home, we'll tell you.

Home battery storage — the questions we get asked

Why is there a price range?

Because every home is a little different. Where the battery goes, how long the cable run is and the state of your consumer unit all change the work. With a new inverter, its size matters too — from 3 kW up to 10 kW (12 kW for Sigenergy). Your free survey fixes the exact figure in writing before anything is ordered, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

Do I need solar panels to have a battery?

No. A battery with a hybrid inverter works on its own: it fills overnight on a cheap tariff and runs the house through the day. If you add panels later, they plug straight into the same inverter.

Can I add a battery to solar someone else fitted?

Yes. We fit a hybrid inverter alongside your panels, replacing the old string inverter — that is the battery + inverter price. If your existing inverter is recent and you would rather keep it, ask about an AC-coupled Fox ESS at survey.

Where can the battery go?

Garage, utility room or an outside wall — not a bedroom, loft space used for sleeping, or an escape route. The wiring rules for home batteries changed in 2026; our update on where a battery can go explains them.

Does it work in a power cut?

Only with a backup gateway, which is an extra quoted at survey. Fox ESS covers chosen circuits; Sigenergy and Powerwall 3 can back up the whole house.

Do I need DNO permission for a new inverter?

Up to 3.68 kW we notify your network operator after the install (G98). Above that we apply first (G99). We handle both, and there is no fee — it is in the price.

Can I start small and add more later?

Yes. Fox ESS EP batteries stack, Sigenergy grows in modules, and a Powerwall 3 takes expansion units. Fit one now, add another when the EV arrives — the battery-only prices above are what that costs.

Is it really 0% VAT?

Yes. A home battery fitted on its own or with solar is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027. Every price on this page already reflects that.

How long does the install take?

A new battery + inverter is one day. Adding a battery to an existing hybrid system is half a day. Your power is off for well under an hour.
